Irish Courts Updates: Dublin Family Law Cancellations and Portlaoise Hearing Changes

Irish courts updates include Dublin family law cancellations, Portlaoise criminal adjournments and revised Limerick repossession hearing dates.

Irish courts updates issued on 6 November 2026 include changes affecting family law proceedings in Dublin and criminal matters at Portlaoise District Court. Anyone due to attend should check the latest official notice and contact the relevant court office before travelling.

Irish courts updates for Dublin and Portlaoise

The Courts Service has published several operational notices covering hearings in Dolphin House, Phoenix House and Portlaoise Courthouse. The announcements include cancelled sittings, adjourned cases and a revised date for civil repossession proceedings in Limerick.

Dublin family law courts

District Family Law Courts 40 and 49 at Dolphin House were unable to sit on 6 November. While the courtrooms were unavailable, the office remained open and confirmed that domestic violence applications would be prioritised.

A separate notice states that Circuit Family Law Court 31 at Phoenix House was unable to sit on 6 November. Earlier notices also recorded the cancellation of Court 32 at Phoenix House and further Dolphin House cancellations on 2, 3, 4 and 5 November.

The Courts Service has also published guidance concerning Protection Orders in Dolphin House. It relates to cases where a Safety Order application was scheduled for hearing on or after 30 September 2026, but the hearing did not proceed because there was no court sitting on the listed date.

Portlaoise District Court criminal list

Criminal matters listed for Tuesday 10 November at Portlaoise District Court have been adjourned, according to the latest notice. The announcement concerns Laois and Portlaoise Courthouse and advises parties to rely on the official listing information for further details.

Limerick repossession cases moved

All Circuit Court civil repossession cases previously listed at Merchant’s Quay, Limerick, for 14 October 2026 have been moved to 10 November 2026. Parties involved in these proceedings should verify the revised arrangements directly with the court office or through their legal representatives.

What people affected by the notices should do

  • Check the Courts Service website for the newest listing or cancellation notice.
  • Contact the relevant court office if the position is unclear.
  • Speak with a solicitor or the Legal Aid Board where legal assistance is required.
  • For domestic violence matters, seek urgent guidance from the court office and appropriate support services.
  • Do not assume that an earlier hearing date remains valid after an adjournment or cancellation.
