The office was temporarily closed after water-related damage affected the ground floor of the building in mid-July. During the closure, alternative services were provided at HSE locations in Enniscorthy, New Ross and Waterford.

According to the Health Service Executive (HSE), civil registration services at Ely Hospital are now available again as works to reinstate the ground-floor facilities have progressed. The reopening means residents can once more contact the Wexford office for registration appointments and certificate services.
The temporary closure did not affect Wexford General Hospital day procedures or outpatient appointments taking place at Ely Hospital. Those services continued as normal throughout the disruption.
