Ireland’s pharmaceutical sector has reached another important milestone as Xeolas Pharmaceuticals officially opens its new 158,000-square-foot facility in Baldoyle, Dublin. The Irish-owned company says the site will increase its ability to develop and manufacture patient-friendly medicines for domestic and international markets.
Xeolas facility opens to support pharmaceutical innovation
The new Xeolas facility brings research, pharmaceutical development, manufacturing and regulatory operations together under one roof. Its design also allows room for future expansion, giving the company a stronger platform as worldwide demand grows for treatments aimed at patients with unmet needs.
Founded in Ireland in 2007 by pharmacist and pharmaceutical executive Damien Flynn, Xeolas now employs more than 100 people. The company focuses on improving established medicines through innovative reformulations that make treatments more practical and accessible for specific patient groups.
Xeolas is currently active in 21 countries and has a development pipeline of more than 25 products, including several at an advanced stage. Its work covers the full pharmaceutical value chain, from formulation and clinical development to regulatory submissions, manufacturing and commercial supply.
Patient-focused medicines for international markets
Rather than developing entirely new active substances, Xeolas works with proven medicines and existing clinical evidence. This approach can support a more efficient development pathway while helping the company create alternative dosage forms and treatment options for patients who may not be well served by conventional medicines.
Its commercial portfolio includes Pedippi®, an oral omeprazole formulation developed for children, and Bonasol®, a drinkable alendronic acid solution. Products developed by Xeolas have received approval in major European markets and are marketed by partners in Europe and other international regions.
Enterprise Ireland welcomes Baldoyle investment
Leo McAdams, Head of Advanced Manufacturing, Construction and Lifesciences at Enterprise Ireland, congratulated Xeolas on the opening. He said supporting Irish companies with the ambition to scale internationally remains a key priority, highlighting the potential for the facility to support sustainable employment and overseas growth.
The investment also reinforces Ireland’s reputation as a centre for pharmaceutical innovation, advanced manufacturing and highly skilled jobs.
