Finding work in another European country can be easier with the right guidance, reliable vacancies and practical support. EURES Ireland connects jobseekers and employers across the European Union and European Economic Area, helping people access information, recruitment and job-matching services.
The European Employment Services Network was established by the European Commission in 1993 to support the free movement of workers. In Ireland, the service is coordinated by the European Employment Services team within the Department of Social Protection.
EURES Ireland connects workers and employers across Europe
EURES is a cooperation network involving public employment services throughout EU and EEA countries. It supports citizens who want to work abroad, businesses recruiting internationally and organisations seeking employment guidance.
The network includes:
- The European Coordination Office
- National Coordination Offices
- EURES Members
- Associated EURES Partners
It also provides access to a European database of job opportunities, a CV database for jobseekers and a network of more than 1,000 specially trained EURES advisers. Local advisers can offer information about vacancies, recruitment procedures and working in another participating country.
Support available through the network
EURES services are designed to help both sides of the labour market. Jobseekers can receive guidance on opportunities and mobility, while employers can access recruitment and placement support. Post-recruitment assistance may also be available, depending on the service provided.

How organisations can join EURES
Under Regulation (EU) 2016/589, the EURES network can include additional organisations that meet defined standards. Ireland operates an admission process for organisations seeking to become EURES Members or EURES Partners.
An organisation applying to become a EURES Member must provide all three core services:
- Submit job vacancies to the EURES portal.
- Submit job applications and CVs to the portal.
- Provide direct information, guidance or post-recruitment support to workers and employers.
A EURES Partner must provide at least one of these services and explain why it cannot deliver the complete range required of a Member. This may relate to its size, resources or the nature of its existing employment services.
Standards for members and partners
Participating organisations must meet minimum requirements covering labour law compliance, service capacity, free access for workers, data transmission standards, reporting, staff allocation and training. Organisations can review the Ireland Members and Partners Admission Requirements and complete the accompanying Quick Check Form before applying.
