Dublin news: major closures and diversions
Marathon-day restrictions
Several roads will close on Sunday, 25 October, for the Irish Life Dublin Marathon. Affected sections include Clonskeagh Road, Roebuck Road, Foster’s Avenue, the northbound R138 Stillorgan Road and the UCD flyover towards the Dublin City boundary. Closures are scheduled from 9.20am to 4.30pm, with diversions signposted.
Longer-term closures
- Brides Glen Road in Shankill remains closed between Rathmichael Road and Mullinastill Road until 28 November for watermain installation.
- The westbound Wyattville Link Road continues to operate under temporary arrangements until 30 November, with a 50 km/h limit between Cherrywood Avenue and the M50 southbound slip road.
- Glenamuck Road remains closed between Brambledown and the Enniskerry Road junction.
- Barnaslingan Lane is permanently closed to through traffic at the Glenamuck Link Distributor Road, although walking and cycling access remains available.
Proposed Foxrock closure
Gas Networks Ireland has applied to close Torquay Road between Leopardstown Road and Golf Lane from 27 October to 1 November, daily from 8am to 6pm. Local and pedestrian access is expected to remain available under a managed traffic plan.
Night works and daytime roadworks
Overnight restrictions will support bus-lane delineator installation, drainage repairs and maintenance along the N11 corridor. Works are also planned on Wyattville Road, the N11 at White’s Cross and several junctions around Rock Road, Stillorgan and Booterstown.
Daytime projects include pedestrian-crossing upgrades on Leopardstown Link Road, ESB works at the Stonebridge and R837 junction, carriageway reinstatement on Booterstown Avenue and water rehabilitation works in Blackrock. Utility connections and reinstatement works will also affect roads in Dalkey, Killiney, Mount Merrion, Leopardstown, Ballinteer, Glenageary and Monkstown.
Active travel and school-zone updates
The Dún Laoghaire Central Active Travel Scheme is operational, although localised snagging, landscaping and minor roadworks will continue until mid-November. The Dodder Greenway project is progressing at Orwell Road and Dodder Road Lower, which now operates permanently as a westbound one-way route towards Ely’s Arch.
Safe Routes to School works are substantially complete at Holy Cross National School, Carysfort National School, Holy Family National School and The Harold School. Remaining activity should be limited, with local and pedestrian access maintained.
