Ireland’s pharmaceutical innovation sector has received a significant boost with the official opening of the new Xeolas facility in Baldoyle, Dublin. The 158,000-square-foot site is designed to bring research, formulation, manufacturing and regulatory operations together as the Irish-owned company expands its international medicines pipeline.
Xeolas facility expands pharmaceutical manufacturing in Dublin
Founded in Ireland in 2007 by pharmacist and pharmaceutical executive Damien Flynn, Xeolas Pharmaceuticals develops patient-focused reformulations of established medicines. Its new Baldoyle facility provides additional capacity to move products from early development through to commercial supply.
The company employs more than 100 people and is already active in 21 countries. Its development pipeline includes more than 25 products, several of which are at an advanced stage. By improving the delivery, usability or formulation of existing medicines, Xeolas aims to address treatment needs that may not be fully served by conventional drug-development approaches.

Enterprise Ireland backs global growth ambitions
Enterprise Ireland welcomed the opening, describing Xeolas as an important contributor to innovation in the pharmaceutical sector. Leo McAdams, Head of Advanced Manufacturing, Construction and Lifesciences at Enterprise Ireland, said the agency would continue working with the company to support its international growth potential and help create and sustain jobs in Ireland.
The project reflects the wider role of Enterprise Ireland in supporting Irish-owned companies that are developing export-led products and services. It also highlights Ireland’s strength in advanced manufacturing, life sciences and highly skilled employment.
Medicines designed around patient needs
Xeolas manages the pharmaceutical value chain from formulation and clinical development to regulatory submission, manufacturing and supply. Its products are based on established active substances and existing clinical evidence, allowing the company to focus on creating practical treatment options while reducing some development uncertainty.
Its commercial products include Pedippi®, an oral omeprazole formulation developed for children, and Bonasol®, a drinkable alendronic acid solution. Products developed by Xeolas have received approval in major European markets and are marketed through partners in Europe and other international territories.
