Ireland’s pharmaceutical sector has reached another important milestone as Xeolas Pharmaceuticals officially opens its new 158,000-square-foot facility in Baldoyle, Dublin. The site is designed to expand the Irish-owned company’s ability to develop and manufacture patient-focused medicines for domestic and international markets.
The launch, announced on 16 September 2026, brings pharmaceutical research, formulation development, manufacturing and regulatory expertise together under one roof. The investment also highlights the role of Irish life sciences companies in creating high-value employment and supporting global healthcare innovation.
Xeolas facility strengthens Irish pharmaceutical manufacturing
Founded in Ireland in 2007 by pharmacist and pharmaceutical executive Damien Flynn, Xeolas Pharmaceuticals employs more than 100 people. Its new Baldoyle operation provides additional capacity as the company advances a product pipeline of more than 25 medicines, many of which are at a late stage of development.
Xeolas is already active in 21 countries, with plans to expand its international presence as products move through development and into commercial supply. The company focuses on reformulating established medicines to make them more practical and accessible for specific patient groups.
Its development model combines existing clinical evidence with new delivery formats. This can help address needs that may not be fully met by conventional drug-development approaches, including medicines designed to be easier for children or other patients to use.
Patient-centred medicines and global growth
Xeolas manages the pharmaceutical value chain from formulation and clinical development through regulatory submissions, manufacturing and supply. Products created by the company have received approval in major European markets and are marketed by commercial partners in Europe and elsewhere.
Examples include Pedippi®, an oral omeprazole formulation developed for children, and Bonasol®, a drinkable alendronic acid solution. These products reflect Xeolas’ focus on improving the usability of established active substances.
Damien Flynn said the new facility will allow the team to progress medicines from development through to commercial supply while creating a platform for the company’s next stage of growth. He also emphasised the importance of using established medicines and clinical evidence to move more efficiently while reducing development risk.
Enterprise Ireland welcomes Baldoyle expansion
Leo McAdams, Head of Advanced Manufacturing, Construction and Lifesciences at Enterprise Ireland, congratulated Xeolas on the opening. He said supporting Irish companies with the ambition to scale globally remains a key priority for the agency.
