Ireland Rugby: Six Women’s AIL Fixtures Set Up a Crucial Round 3

Six Energia All-Ireland League women’s fixtures take place this weekend, with unbeaten Old Belvedere and Ennis facing key away tests.

The latest Ireland rugby weekend brings six important Energia All-Ireland League women’s fixtures, with unbeaten leaders Old Belvedere and Ennis facing testing away trips. Defending champions UL Bohemian will also aim to build on their first win of the 2026/27 campaign.

Round 3 takes place on Saturday, 31 October, with three Division 1A games and three Division 1B contests. Early-season positions remain tightly packed, making this a significant weekend for clubs chasing title momentum, promotion prospects and a place among the leading contenders.

Old Belvedere face Railway Union in Dublin derby

Old Belvedere travel to Park Avenue to meet Railway Union in the standout Division 1A fixture, with kick-off scheduled for 2.30pm.

The visitors have made a perfect start, collecting maximum points from wins over Galwegians and Wicklow. Their latest challenge will be a Railway side looking to respond after defeat away to Galwegians.

Railway began the season strongly with a home victory over UL Bohemian and will hope that home advantage can produce another major performance. Old Belvedere won 34-19 on their previous visit to Park Avenue in September 2025, but Railway’s ability to compete at home makes this an intriguing early test.

Blackrock and Galwegians target a response

Blackrock College host Galwegians at Stradbrook in a fixture between two sides with plenty to prove.

Blackrock started with an emphatic win over Wicklow before losing to UL Bohemian in their second outing. They will want a controlled performance on home soil to remain close to the top of the Division 1A table.

Galwegians arrive with confidence after defeating Railway Union last time out. Their challenge now is to reproduce that intensity away from home. Blackrock won the teams’ previous meeting at Stradbrook, but Galwegians will see this as an opportunity to claim another important result.

UL Bohemian seek consistency against Wicklow

UL Bohemian travel to Ashtown Lane to face Wicklow after securing their first victory of the season against Blackrock College.

The reigning champions have won three consecutive league titles and will be determined to turn that important result into a sustained run. Wicklow, meanwhile, are still searching for their first win after a difficult opening schedule.

UL Bohemian have remained unbeaten on previous visits to Ashtown Lane, but Wicklow will be hoping home support and a sharper attacking display can change that record. The hosts have a valuable chance to make an early statement against the defending champions.

MU Barnhall and Tullow meet in Division 1B

MU Barnhall welcome Tullow to Parsonstown for an all-Leinster contest between two clubs separated by only one point in the standings.

Barnhall made a memorable start to life in the Energia All-Ireland League with victory over Ballincollig, before losing away to Ennis. A return to home territory could help them regain momentum.

Tullow enter the game after an impressive bonus-point win over Cooke. While this is their first AIL meeting, the sides know each other from Leinster competition, adding local familiarity to a match with plenty at stake.

Unbeaten Ennis travel to Ballincollig

Division 1B leaders Ennis put their unbeaten record on the line against Ballincollig at Tanner Park, with the match starting at 5pm.

Ennis have taken nine points from a possible ten after defeating Cooke and MU Barnhall. That form has established them as early promotion contenders, but Ballincollig will provide a serious test in Cork.

The hosts are still seeking a first win, although their 31-31 draw with Enniskillen showed their ability to compete under pressure. Ballincollig also recorded a 44-15 victory when Ennis last visited Tanner Park, while Ennis won the reverse fixture. Those results suggest another close Munster derby could be in store.

Historic Ulster meeting at Shaw’s Bridge

Cooke host Enniskillen in the first Energia All-Ireland League meeting between the Ulster clubs. The game at Shaw’s Bridge will be streamed live on IrishRugby+.

Cooke have suffered narrow defeats in their opening two matches after putting themselves in promising positions. Converting those competitive displays into a first win is now the priority, particularly with the race for the top four already taking shape.

Enniskillen remain unbeaten in their debut AIL campaign after beating Tullow and drawing dramatically with Ballincollig. Their attacking threat has been clear in both games, and they will want to maintain that positive start while competing for provincial bragging rights.
