The HSE Donegal Children’s Services team has moved into newly refurbished accommodation at Lifford Community Hospital, creating a brighter, more suitable setting for children, young people and families across East Donegal.
Announced on 17 September 2026, the relocation of the Donegal East Children’s Disability Network Team (CDNT) marks an investment in community-based healthcare infrastructure and local disability support services.
HSE Donegal Children’s Services relocate in East Donegal
The refurbished facility has been repurposed to provide a modern, fit-for-purpose base for the interdisciplinary team. CDNTs bring together healthcare professionals who work with children, families and other services to support development, participation and wellbeing.
Services are designed for children and young people with complex needs arising from disability, developmental delay or other complex conditions. Depending on individual needs, interdisciplinary support may include assessment, intervention, advice and coordination with families and relevant services.
Darren Doyle, General Manager of the Donegal East Community Healthcare Area, said the new accommodation would give the team a high-quality environment for delivering services throughout East Donegal. He also described the project as part of the HSE’s continuing commitment to suitable community-based accommodation for children’s services.
Family welcome for new CDNT facilities
A family representative welcomed the move, saying the facilities provide a safe, welcoming and bright environment designed with the needs of service users and families in mind. The representative also highlighted the benefit of having the East Donegal CDNT team together in one location.

The Primary Care Physiotherapy Service will continue operating from its existing location in the same building. This ensures continuity for patients attending physiotherapy appointments.
The hospital campus also includes Lifford Health Centre, the Donegal East CDNT and the Primary Care Physiotherapy Department. As several services operate from the site, parking capacity is limited.
The HSE is reminding visitors that hospital parking is reserved for patients and staff accessing services. Visitors should note that:
- Overnight and long-term parking is not permitted.
- Vehicles should not be left in the car park for extended periods.
- Parking spaces should remain available for patients and staff.
Respecting these arrangements will help people attending appointments access the campus safely and conveniently.
