Glanua Lisbon office expansion marks a significant step in the Irish engineering group’s international growth strategy. The new facility will strengthen the company’s design, engineering and digital delivery capabilities while supporting projects across Ireland, the UK, Portugal and the United States.
Glanua officially opened its Lisbon engineering office on 6 October 2026. The company, which specialises in water, wastewater and environmental infrastructure, already employs more than 20 engineering professionals in Portugal and plans to grow the Lisbon team to 40.
Glanua Lisbon Office Supports Global Engineering Growth
Established in late 2025, the Lisbon operation expanded quickly, leading Glanua to move into a larger, newly developed office. Engineers based there provide specialist support in engineering design, building information modelling (BIM) and digital project delivery for the wider Glanua Group.
The company expects to recruit five additional engineers by the end of 2026. Lisbon is intended to become an important hub within Glanua’s international engineering network, connecting Portuguese expertise with teams working across multiple markets.
The office opening was attended by Alma Ní Choigligh, Ireland’s Ambassador to Portugal, Alberto Cisterna, Enterprise Ireland’s Director for Spain and Portugal, Glanua executives, business partners and members of the Lisbon team.
Portugal’s engineering talent strengthens Glanua
Glanua’s links with Portugal pre-date the new office. Portuguese engineers and technical specialists have contributed to the company’s development for many years, while graduates from Portuguese universities have joined the business and progressed professionally.
The company has developed relationships with NOVA University Lisbon and the University of Lisbon. Glanua identified Lisbon as a natural location because of Portugal’s established engineering sector, water and environmental expertise, and strong graduate talent pool.
Enterprise Ireland Welcomes Irish-Portuguese Partnership
Alma Ní Choigligh said the investment demonstrates the expanding economic relationship between Ireland and Portugal. Enterprise Ireland also described the project as an example of the international ambition of Irish companies and the value of combining Irish engineering capability with Portugal’s skilled workforce.
The expansion supports Ireland’s wider export and internationalisation agenda, with agencies such as Enterprise Ireland helping Irish businesses establish and scale overseas operations. It also reflects growing demand for sustainable infrastructure and specialist services in global water and environmental markets.
Glanua’s international footprint now includes its Lisbon engineering hub and its first US office in Radnor, Pennsylvania. The Group employs more than 750 people across Ireland, the UK, Portugal and the US.
Glanua Revenue and Order Book Outlook
Glanua recorded revenue of €155 million in 2025 and expects revenue to exceed €200 million in 2026. The group has a secured order book of approximately €900 million extending to 2030.
Headquartered in Loughrea, County Galway, Glanua provides services covering design, construction, manufacturing, operation and optimisation for municipal and industrial clients. Its industrial customers include businesses in pharmaceuticals, life sciences, food and beverage, and manufacturing, while its municipal work supports major water utilities in Ireland and the UK.
