Drivers, cyclists and pedestrians travelling through south Dublin should allow extra time this week as multiple roadworks, closures and traffic controls affect Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown. Key Dublin road closures and traffic changes
The council has advised road users to follow temporary signs and traffic-management instructions. Emergency works may also arise without notice, so journey plans should remain flexible.
Wyattville Link Road
A temporary 50 km/h limit continues westbound on Wyattville Link Road between Cherrywood Avenue and the Cherrywood M50 southbound slip road. The restriction supports construction of the underpass linked to the Beckett Link Road Project and is expected to remain until 30 November 2026, or until construction finishes.
Mounttown Road Lower
A northbound-only system remains in operation between Kill Avenue and York Road as part of the Dún Laoghaire Central Active Travel Scheme. Southbound motorists must use signed diversion routes. The arrangement is expected to continue until the end of October.
Other planned closures
- Killiney Hill Road will close between Victoria Road and Military Road from 29 September to 1 October, 8am–6pm daily, for gas works.
- Brides Glen Road remains affected by watermain construction, with a proposed extension of the closure from 26 September to 28 November.
- A short section of Silchester Road near Silchester Crescent is proposed to close on 9 October for reinstatement works.
Roadworks affecting south Dublin journeys
Works are scheduled or continuing at Camberley Oaks in Dundrum, Enniskerry Road at Struan Glen, Clonkeen Crescent and Grove, Ashlawn Park, Dundrum Road, and the Sydney Avenue, George’s Avenue and Frascati Park area in Blackrock. Temporary lights, Stop/Go controls, lane restrictions and local diversions may be used.
Utility and reinstatement works are also listed across Blackrock, Dalkey, Glenageary, Monkstown, Dún Laoghaire, Foxrock, Killiney, Clonskeagh, Roebuck, Windy Arbour and Kilmacud.

Active travel and school safety projects
Construction continues on the Dodder Greenway at the Orwell Road and Braemor Park junctions. Dodder Road Lower is permanently one-way westbound from Orwell Road towards Ely’s Arch, while sections of new two-way cycle lanes are expected to open during autumn 2026.
Major works at Holy Cross National School, Carysfort National School, Holy Family National School and The Harold School are substantially complete. Only minor snagging remains, although limited traffic management may continue.
Proposed Cornelscourt crossing
The council is proposing a signal-controlled pedestrian crossing at the N11 Cornelscourt junction. Planned improvements include signals, road markings, footpaths, kerbing, tactile paving and signage, helping pedestrians and cyclists connect more safely with public transport.
