Akasa Air Expands India Network with More Flights from Delhi, Bengaluru and Kolkata

Akasa Air is expanding across India with more flights from Delhi, Bengaluru and Kolkata, plus new direct links to regional destinations.

Akasa Air is expanding its domestic network across India with new city links, higher flight frequencies and a new crew base in Kolkata. The changes give passengers more scheduling options on major business routes while improving access to destinations including Jaipur, Udaipur, Chandigarh and Kozhikode.

The expansion is focused mainly on strengthening the airline’s existing network rather than announcing a single new international corridor. Akasa Air is adding capacity in northern, southern and eastern India as it continues to build its presence in one of the world’s fastest-growing aviation markets.

More Akasa Air flights from Delhi

Delhi remains one of the airline’s most important operating bases. Akasa Air now has 196 weekly departures from the capital, with direct services to 14 cities.

The revised schedule includes a daily flight between Delhi and Visakhapatnam. The airline has also added:

  • Two additional daily services between Delhi and Mumbai
  • One additional daily service between Delhi and Bengaluru
  • One additional daily service between Delhi and Goa

These frequency increases are designed to give passengers more choice throughout the day, particularly on routes used by business travellers and people connecting between major cities.

New Rajasthan and Chandigarh links

Akasa Air has also expanded its northern India coverage with daily non-stop flights linking Jaipur and Udaipur with Bengaluru and Mumbai. Chandigarh has gained daily direct services to Bengaluru and Goa.

The new connections link regional destinations with two of India’s busiest metropolitan travel markets. For passengers, that can reduce the need to travel via another airport, although schedules and availability will depend on the individual booking date.

Bengaluru becomes a larger Akasa Air network centre

Bengaluru is another major focus of the expansion. Akasa Air now operates non-stop services from the city to 19 domestic destinations and three international destinations: Abu Dhabi, Phuket and Jeddah.

Additional frequencies from Bengaluru strengthen its role as a connecting point for domestic and international journeys. The airport is an important base for technology, business and leisure travel, and the broader schedule provides more options for passengers travelling across India or continuing overseas.

Akasa Air is also increasing its presence in Kerala. Kozhikode has received additional domestic and international capacity, while operations at Kochi support the airline’s wider expansion in southern India.

Kolkata receives 95 weekly departures and a crew base

In eastern India, Akasa Air has increased its schedule from Kolkata to 95 weekly departures serving eight destinations. The airline has also established a crew base at the airport.

A crew base gives an airline additional operational infrastructure at a location where it is expanding. It can support the management of aircraft and staff for local services, although it does not by itself guarantee that further routes will be added.

For passengers using Kolkata, the immediate effect is a larger choice of direct services. The development also strengthens the city’s position within Akasa Air’s broader domestic network.

Higher frequencies on major metro routes

Akasa Air is increasing capacity on several of India’s busiest city-pair routes. The announced schedules include:

  • Six daily flights between Mumbai and Delhi
  • One daily service between Navi Mumbai and Delhi
  • Five daily flights between Bengaluru and Delhi
  • Two daily flights between Delhi and Kolkata, including morning and evening services

More frequent services can be particularly useful for passengers arranging same-day business trips or choosing departure times around meetings, hotel check-ins and onward connections. Travellers should still check the specific timetable before booking because operating days and flight times can vary.

What the expansion means for passengers

The latest Akasa Air network changes offer several practical benefits:

  • More departure choices on heavily travelled domestic routes
  • Direct connections between additional regional cities and major hubs
  • Improved access to international destinations from Bengaluru
  • Greater schedule flexibility for business and leisure travel
  • Expanded connectivity through Kolkata, Delhi and southern India

However, the changes do not mean that every route operates at the same frequency every day. Passengers should confirm the exact service, departure airport and operating date through Akasa Air’s booking platform before making arrangements.

Akasa Air’s wider growth strategy

The network expansion reflects a broader strategy of building density on routes where demand is already developing, while connecting major metropolitan centres with emerging destinations. The airline is combining additional domestic frequencies with a gradually expanding international footprint.

For the Indian aviation market, the changes point to continued competition for passengers on major city routes. For travellers, the most immediate benefit is greater choice rather than a change to existing ticket or baggage rules.

What travellers should check before booking

Passengers considering one of the expanded services should review:

  • The exact departure airport, particularly for services involving Mumbai and Navi Mumbai
  • The operating date and flight time
  • Connection time when combining domestic and international journeys
  • Current baggage and fare conditions
  • Any schedule changes issued after booking

Travellers connecting to Abu Dhabi, Phuket or Jeddah should also allow sufficient time for airport procedures and verify the entry requirements for their final destination. Those requirements depend on nationality and travel documents, not simply on the city from which the passenger departs.

Conclusion

The Akasa Air expansion adds meaningful capacity across India, with stronger schedules from Delhi, Bengaluru and Kolkata and new direct links involving Jaipur, Udaipur and Chandigarh. Passengers should check the airline’s live timetable for the exact date and airport before booking, but the overall change is clear: Akasa Air is offering more domestic choice while developing Bengaluru and Kolkata as increasingly important parts of its network.
