The Health Service Executive (HSE) has unveiled a major new HSE investment package worth more than €150 million for the Dublin and North East region, marking one of the most substantial regional health infrastructure announcements in recent months. In Navan, a new seven-storey Primary Care Centre is set to move ahead, bringing multiple services together under one roof. This HSE investment is intended to replace dispersed service locations and make care easier to access for local communities.
By centralising services in a modern setting, the development supports a key Sláintecare objective: delivering the right care in the right place, as close to home as possible. It also reflects a broader public service planning approach seen across government agencies including the Department of the Taoiseach, Social Protection and Local Government and Heritage.
Monaghan Hospital improvements focus on older persons’ care
Monaghan Hospital has also benefited from the latest HSE investment, with the official opening of the new 18-bed Willowbridge Ward. Designed as a dementia-friendly unit, the ward is intended to provide a more therapeutic and accessible environment for patients.
The Minister also viewed the new Rehabilitation, Dementia and Remembrance Garden, a facility created to support wellbeing, independence and dignity for older people. Together, these improvements underline the HSE’s ongoing efforts to strengthen specialist care environments across the region.
