Enterprise Ireland: Dunshaughlin-based HR Duo Secures €1.6M Investment

Dunshaughlin-based HR Duo has raised €1.6 million in fresh funding, with Enterprise Ireland playing a central role in backing the next phase of the company’s growth. The latest investment signals strong confidence in an Irish HR technology business that is building momentum in the UK and Ireland by helping frontline-heavy employers manage workforce operations, compliance, and employee relations in one platform.

The round was led by Puma Growth Partners, with support from Enterprise Ireland, while the company’s original seed investors also returned for a third consecutive reinvestment. That repeat backing is a notable endorsement of HR Duo’s progress and commercial direction.

Enterprise Ireland backs HR Duo’s next growth phase

HR Duo is focused on SMEs with between 100 and 1,000 employees, especially businesses with shift-based teams and demanding compliance responsibilities. Its customer base spans sectors such as manufacturing, construction, healthcare, retail, and hospitality.

The company’s software brings together:

  • time and attendance tracking
  • rostering and workforce scheduling
  • HR compliance support
  • employment relations tools

That integrated approach is increasingly relevant for employers navigating regulation, staffing pressures, and operational efficiency. It also fits into the wider Irish business support ecosystem that includes agencies and public bodies such as gov.ie, the Revenue Commissioners, the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC), the Health Service Executive (HSE), and the Department of the Taoiseach, all of which shape the compliance and operating environment for growing companies.

Strong commercial momentum and UK expansion plans

According to the company, HR Duo has recorded sixfold annual recurring revenue growth since 2020 and operates with an 85% gross margin, underscoring the strength of its SaaS model. It is now targeting ARR growth of more than 41% in the next financial year.

A major driver behind the investment is the UK opportunity. Around 75% of HR Duo’s current sales pipeline is located there, and the business has already established a presence in Birmingham. The new funding will be used to expand its UK sales team and strengthen the platform’s infrastructure as it scales.

The wider SME HR technology market across the UK and Ireland is estimated at €500 million to €700 million, giving HR Duo a sizeable addressable market as more employers move away from paper processes and disconnected software tools.

Why this Enterprise Ireland investment matters

The Enterprise Ireland support reflects ongoing efforts to help Irish companies grow internationally while maintaining strong roots at home. In sectors influenced by Finance, Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Social Protection, Education, and Transport policy, scalable digital platforms that simplify compliance can become critical infrastructure for SMEs.

HR Duo says it is entering this phase from a position of financial discipline, with positive EBITDA already achieved and growing traction among larger, more complex SME customers. That shift suggests the company is moving beyond early-stage adoption and into a more established mid-market position.

Leadership comments underline investor confidence

Chief executive Jerome Forde said the new funding opens a confident chapter for the company as it scales with purpose in the UK market. Puma Growth Partners also highlighted the strength of execution and the growth outlook for workforce management technology, while Enterprise Ireland said the company is addressing a clear market gap for frontline-heavy businesses.

This kind of development is also relevant for organisations that engage with public-facing regulatory and commercial bodies such as the Central Bank, CSO, IDA Ireland, Enterprise Ireland, An Garda Síochána, and the Office of Government Procurement (OGP), as Ireland’s digital business ecosystem continues to mature.

What’s next for HR Duo

With investor confidence, repeat backing, and a growing UK pipeline, HR Duo appears well placed to compete for a larger share of the SME workforce management market. For Enterprise Ireland, the deal is another example of how Irish-founded companies can scale internationally from a domestic base while creating long-term commercial value.

In short, this Enterprise Ireland-supported funding round is more than a capital raise. It is a sign that Irish SaaS firms solving real operational problems for employers can win sustained backing and expand abroad from a position of strength.
